Will I be offered treatment I do not need?
No. This is the principle the rest of the clinic is built on. İkon does not work from a sales mindset: treatment that you do not need, that would not help you, or that could harm you is not offered.
In practice that means your dentist tells you when a tooth can be saved rather than replaced, when a smaller treatment will do, and when the honest answer is to wait. If you ask for something that is not in your interest, they explain why.
What we measure ourselves against
For us, quality is not only the result of a treatment. It is the whole experience from your first message: patient safety, hygiene and sterilisation, an accurate diagnosis, a plan made for you, clear communication and keeping up with how dentistry develops.
Who leads the clinic, and who will treat me?
Our medical director is Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hakan Yılmaz, an orthodontist with an academic background, who is responsible for İkon's clinical standard across the three clinics.
All our dentists provide general dental treatment, and each brings fields of special interest from their training. We call this a multidisciplinary approach: if your plan includes, for example, a root canal treatment and new crowns, the team plans the steps together, so each one is clear before it starts.

Why does planning start with your photos or X-ray, not a package?
Two people can ask for the same treatment and need very different work. The bone, the gums, the teeth that can be saved and the work already in your mouth all change the plan. So a dentist looks at your case first, and only then suggests a treatment.
What should I send?
- A recent panoramic X-ray, if you have one
- If not, clear photos of your teeth from the front and both sides
- A short note on what bothers you and what you would like to change
What does the written plan tell me?
- The treatment options for your case, explained in plain words
- A price range for those options
- How many visits and how many days in Istanbul your case is likely to need
- What we can coordinate for you: transfers and partner hotels
What if the examination shows something new?
Your plan is confirmed after your examination in Istanbul, when your dentist sees you in person and reviews your X-rays and scans. If they find something the photos could not show, they explain it to you and you decide together before treatment starts.

How does modern technology help my treatment?
A good plan depends on an accurate diagnosis. Our clinics use 3D tomography (CBCT) to see the bone in three dimensions, panoramic and intraoral X-rays, intraoral scanners (iTero Lumina and 3Shape TRIOS) in place of impression paste, and 3D printers for models and surgical guides.
An intraoral camera lets your dentist show you on a screen what they see in your mouth, so you understand the reason for each step.

What if I am nervous about dental treatment?
Many people are, and you do not need to apologise for it. We care about how you feel during treatment, not only about the treatment itself. We avoid procedures and ways of working that would frighten or upset you, explain what is about to happen before it happens, and take the time to answer your questions.
Tell us in your first message if you are anxious, or if a past experience has stayed with you. Your dentist will take it into account when planning your visits.
Does it matter that you only see me for a short stay?
It should not, and at İkon it does not. Seeing a patient in person once, within a limited number of days, is never a reason to lower the quality of care. Your treatment is planned around what your mouth needs; the travel is then organised around the plan.
- Before you travel: our international department answers your questions, arranges your appointments and prepares your plan with the dentist.
- Transfers and hotel: we coordinate your airport transfer and your stay with partner hotels near the clinics, such as the Sheraton Grand Istanbul Esenyurt, Days Inn by Wyndham Istanbul Esenyurt and Boris Hotel.
- In your language: English, Arabic, French or Turkish.
- After you fly home: your coordinator stays in touch and your dentist is one message away.

Is İkon Dental authorised to treat patients from abroad?
Yes. İkon holds the International Health Tourism Authorisation Certificate of the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Health, for its Başakşehir (Bahçeşehir) and Hadımköy clinics. The certificate shown here is for Başakşehir, No. ST-4902. You can open it to read it in full.
