International patients / Your journey

Your treatment journey.

Having dental treatment in another country starts long before you land. Here is how it works with İkon, from the first photos you send to the follow-up after you fly home, and what you can settle in writing before you spend anything on travel.

How does dental treatment from abroad work?

It starts at home. You send photos of your teeth or an X-ray, a dentist reviews them and you receive a written plan with your options and a price range. You agree your clinic dates, then book flights. In Istanbul we coordinate your transfer and hotel, your dentist examines you, confirms the plan and treats you. After you fly home, we stay in touch.

Many people hesitate at this point, and that is understandable: you are trusting people you have not met yet. So everything that can be settled before you travel is settled in writing first.

  1. From homeYour first message Send photos or a panoramic X-ray on WhatsApp or through the form. Our international team replies in your language.
  2. From homeYour written plan A dentist reviews your case. You receive your options, a price range and the visits and days your case is likely to need.
  3. From homeDates, then flights Once you decide to go ahead, we agree your clinic dates with you. Then you book flights, and we coordinate your transfer and hotel around them.
  4. In IstanbulExamination and treatment Your dentist examines you, takes the X-rays and scans your case needs, confirms the plan with you and treatment begins.
  5. Back homeHealing and follow-up You fly home with aftercare instructions. Your coordinator stays in touch, and some treatments need a further visit later.

Why have dental treatment in Istanbul, Turkey?

Turkey has a strong healthcare system, and Istanbul is easy to reach from much of the world. That is why patients from many countries come here for dental treatment, and why we built a department to look after them.

Our aim is that everyone who comes to Turkey for treatment with us feels safe, is properly informed and is supported by professionals at every step: the first conversation, the plan, the treatment, transport and accommodation, and the follow-up at home. Every patient is different, so every plan is made for one person.

What happens in the free first assessment?

The first assessment is how we understand your case before you travel. It is free, and there is no obligation to book afterwards.

What to send us

  • A recent panoramic X-ray, if you have one
  • Otherwise, clear photos of your teeth: smiling, biting together, upper and lower
  • A short note on what bothers you and what you would like to change
  • Any health conditions or medicines your dentist should know about

What you receive

  • Your treatment options, explained in plain words
  • A price range for those options
  • The visits and days in Istanbul your case is likely to need
  • What we can coordinate: transfers and partner hotels

You can send everything on WhatsApp, through the form below or by email to info@ikondis.com. Your plan is confirmed at your examination in Istanbul, when your dentist sees you in person. If they find something the photos could not show, they explain it and you decide together before treatment starts.

How many visits will I need?

It depends on the treatment, and on your mouth. Some treatments are completed during your stay. Others need healing time between steps, so part of the work is done on a return visit, with time at home in between.

Why do implant treatments often need a return visit?

After an implant is placed, the bone grows around it and holds it firmly. This healing happens while you are at home, living normally. Your final teeth are fitted once it is complete, on a stable base. Your dentist explains what you will have in the meantime, before treatment starts.

Where do I find the number for my case?

In your written plan. It states the visits and days your own treatment is likely to need, so you can plan your flights and time off work. The treatment pages explain each option in more detail, for example All-on-4, single and multiple implants and smile makeover.

Who arranges my hotel and airport transfers?

We coordinate them for you. Once your clinic dates are agreed and you have booked your flights, your coordinator arranges your airport transfer and your stay, so the transfers and hotel nights match your treatment days.

  • Partner hotels near the clinics: Sheraton Grand Istanbul Esenyurt, Days Inn by Wyndham Istanbul Esenyurt and Boris Hotel.
  • Matched to your plan: where you stay is organised around your treatment plan and what you need.
  • Airport transfer: coordinated around your flight times.

What is arranged for your visit, and what you pay for separately, is confirmed with you by your coordinator before you travel. Travelling with a partner or a friend? Mention it early, so the arrangements can be planned for both of you.

Will anyone speak my language?

Being understood matters when you are agreeing to treatment. Our international department works in English, Arabic, French and Turkish. It answers your questions about treatment, arranges your appointments and your plan, and coordinates your time in Istanbul.

If you need a language not listed here, tell us in your first message and we will say honestly how we can help.

What should I check before I choose a clinic abroad?

Whichever clinic you choose, these checks take little time and tell you a lot.

  • Authorisation: is the clinic authorised by the Ministry of Health to treat international patients? Ask to see the certificate.
  • A plan from your own case: did a dentist look at your photos or X-ray before suggesting a treatment?
  • The plan in writing: options, price range and the visits you are likely to need, before you book flights.
  • Who treats you: can you read about the dentists before you travel?
  • Reviews you can check: read independent reviews, including the lower ratings.
  • After you go home: who answers you if you have a question while you heal?

For İkon you can check each of these: the certificate is above, our dentists are on our dentists page, and our Google ratings and reviews are on our patient reviews page. More on how we work is on why İkon Dental.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to send an X-ray before I come?

It helps, but it is not required. A recent panoramic X-ray is ideal; if you do not have one, clear photos of your teeth are enough for the first assessment. Your dentist takes the images your case needs at the examination in Istanbul.

When should I book my flights?

After you have your written plan and your clinic dates are agreed with your coordinator. Then the transfer and hotel are coordinated around your flights.

What if the examination in Istanbul changes my plan?

Your dentist explains what they found and why it matters, and you decide together before treatment starts.

Is the hotel included?

We coordinate your stay with partner hotels near the clinics. What is arranged for your visit, and what you pay for separately, is confirmed with you by your coordinator before you travel.

Can I bring someone with me?

Yes. Tell us early, so the arrangements for your stay can be planned for both of you.

What if I have a question after I get home?

Your coordinator stays in touch after you fly home, and your dentist is one message away for questions and follow-up.

Is the clinic authorised to treat international patients?

Yes. İkon holds the International Health Tourism Authorisation Certificate of the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Health, for its Başakşehir (Bahçeşehir) and Hadımköy clinics.
