Illustration for explanation only. Your dentist plans the number, position and length of the implants from your own 3D tomography.

In short

All-on-6 dental implants replace a full arch of teeth with one fixed bridge held by six implants. The implants are spread along the jaw, from the front towards the back, so the chewing load is shared between more supports. The bridge is screwed onto the implants and stays in your mouth; you do not take it out to clean it.

Six implants need enough bone along the arch, including further back, where bone is often thinner. That is why more implants is not automatically better. If your scan shows thin bone at the back, your dentist may suggest grafting first, or All-on-4, which is designed for exactly that situation. Your written plan states which option is proposed and why.

  2. Your bone is measured in Istanbul.A 3D tomography on your first day shows whether six implants are possible.
  3. Six implants are placed.Under local anaesthesia, spread along the arch as planned from your scan.
  4. Your fixed bridge is fitted. The final bridge follows once the implants have healed into the bone.

A first answer before you book anything

Send a few photos of your teeth, or a panoramic X-ray if you have one, on WhatsApp or through the form. A dentist reviews them, and our international team replies in your language.

What we ask you

  • Photos of your teeth or a panoramic X-ray
  • Your general health and any medication
  • What bothers you most about your teeth now
  • Which dates could work for you

What you receive

  • Your treatment options, explained
  • A price range
  • The days and visits you would need in Istanbul
  • A final plan only after your examination

2 In Istanbul · Arrival and examination

We meet you, examine you and confirm the plan

  • Airport and hotel. We coordinate your airport transfer and your stay with partner hotels near the clinics, including the Sheraton Grand Istanbul Esenyurt and Days Inn by Wyndham Istanbul Esenyurt.
  • Examination at the clinic. Day one starts with your examination, a 3D tomography (CBCT) and a digital scan of your mouth.
  • The plan, in person. Your dentist goes through the images with you and confirms the plan, or explains any change and why. Treatment then follows the written plan you approve.
  • In your language. Our international department works in English, Arabic, French and Turkish.

3 In Istanbul · Implant day

Six implants, spread along the arch

  • Local anaesthesia. The area is numbed, so you should feel pressure rather than pain. Your dentist explains the anaesthesia options for your case beforehand.
  • Teeth that cannot be saved are removed. The six implants are then placed at the positions planned from your scan, from the front of the jaw towards the back.
  • Grafting, only if planned. If the bone at one of the back positions is too thin, your plan may include a bone graft. This is agreed with you in writing beforehand, and it can add healing time before the bridge.
  • Temporary teeth. A fixed temporary bridge may be attached soon after surgery if the implants sit firmly enough in the bone. If they need to heal without load first, your dentist explains the temporary option for your case before you decide.
  • Before you fly. Your dentist checks your healing and your bite, and shows you how to clean and what to eat while the implants heal.

4 At home · Healing

Healing at home

Over the following months the bone grows onto the surface of the implants. Dentists call this osseointegration. Until then you keep to softer food and add firmer food step by step, as your dentist advises.

Your coordinator stays in touch, and your dentist is one message away if you have a question or want to send a photo.

5 In Istanbul · Your final bridge

Your final bridge on six implants

  • Each implant is checked. Your dentist checks that all six implants have healed, then takes a new digital scan for the final bridge.
  • Try-in. You see the shape and shade of the teeth in your mouth, and can ask for changes, before the bridge is finished.
  • Fitting. The final bridge is screwed onto the implants and your bite is adjusted until it feels even.
  • Cleaning routine. You are shown how to clean under the bridge and around each implant at home.

6 Aftercare · Back home

Looking after your new teeth

Daily cleaning and regular check-ups keep implants healthy. Routine check-ups can be done with a dentist near your home.

After you fly home, your coordinator stays in touch and your dentist is one message away for questions and follow-up.

Often a good fit if …

  • Most or all teeth in one jaw are missing or failing
  • Your scan shows enough bone towards the back of the jaw
  • You want fixed teeth, not a removable plate
  • You accept that grafting may be part of the plan
  • You can keep up daily cleaning and check-ups

Worth discussing first if …

  • Thin bone at the back of the jaw → All-on-4 uses angled back implants and often avoids grafting
  • Severe bone loss in the upper jaw → zygomatic implants
  • Only a few missing teeth → single or multiple implants
  • Uncontrolled diabetes, active gum disease, heavy smoking or pregnancy → we talk about timing first

Not sure? Send us your X-ray or a few photos. A dentist will tell you whether six implants, four, or another option looks realistic for your jaw.

What you do

  • Take your medication as your dentist explains it
  • Keep to soft food while the implants heal
  • Clean around all six implants every day, as you were shown
  • Avoid smoking, which slows healing

Contact us if …

Swelling keeps getting worse instead of settling, you have a fever, bleeding does not stop with gentle pressure, numbness does not wear off, or your temporary teeth feel loose or crack.

What six implants do not do

More implants do not make a bridge maintenance-free. The gum and bone around each implant can still become inflamed, and there are six places to keep clean. Cleaning and check-ups matter for years.

Swelling and bruising

Common in the first days. It settles with rest, cold compresses and the medication your dentist prescribes.

Infection

Uncommon. Keeping the area clean and following your instructions lowers the risk.

An implant that does not bond

Occasionally an implant does not bond with the bone. Smoking and uncontrolled diabetes raise this risk. Your dentist then explains whether it needs to be replaced.

Grafting adds its own risks

A bone graft is an extra procedure with its own healing. Sometimes a graft does not take as hoped and the plan has to change.

Nerves and sinus

Rare. The back implants sit closer to the nerve in the lower jaw and to the sinus in the upper jaw, which is why they are planned from your 3D tomography.

Not reversible

Teeth removed for a full-arch bridge do not come back. That is why teeth with a realistic future are worth keeping.

What changes the price

One jaw or both, the number of implants your bone allows, the implant system, the material of the final bridge, and any extractions or grafting your case needs.

What to ask for in writing

  • The implant system and bridge material, by name
  • What the price includes, and whether grafting is part of it
  • The days and visits planned in Istanbul

Travel and stay

We coordinate airport transfers and accommodation with partner hotels near the clinics. Ask your coordinator what your quote includes.

If the scan changes the plan

If your 3D tomography shows that four implants suit your jaw better than six, your dentist explains the change and why. Treatment only follows a written plan you have approved.

No price is final until a dentist has examined you. Your plan is confirmed after your examination, 3D tomography and digital scan in Istanbul.

Questions about All-on-6

The questions we hear most often. If yours is not here, ask us on WhatsApp.

Is All-on-6 better than All-on-4?

Not for everyone. Six implants share the chewing load between more supports, which helps when there is enough bone along the arch. When the back of the jaw is thin, placing six may mean grafting, and All-on-4 with angled back implants can be the simpler plan. Your dentist recommends one after seeing your 3D tomography.

Do I have enough bone for six implants?

That cannot be judged from the outside. A panoramic X-ray gives a first impression, and the 3D tomography on your first day in Istanbul measures the height and width of the bone at each planned position. If one of the positions is too thin, your dentist explains the options: grafting, four implants, or in the upper jaw zygomatic implants.

Does All-on-6 hurt?

The implants are placed under local anaesthesia, so you should feel pressure rather than pain during the procedure. Soreness and swelling afterwards are normal in the first days, and your dentist prescribes medication for that.

Will I go home without teeth?

Your dentist plans this with you before surgery. A fixed temporary bridge may be attached to the implants soon after they are placed, if they sit firmly enough in the bone. If they need to heal first, for example after grafting, your dentist explains the temporary option for your case. Ask us which applies to you before you decide.

How much do All-on-6 dental implants cost in Istanbul, Turkey?

We do not publish fixed prices, because the cost depends on your jaw, the implant system, the bridge material and whether grafting is needed. Send us an X-ray or photos and you receive a price range with your written plan, free and with no obligation. No price is final until a dentist has examined you.

How long do I need to stay in Istanbul?

It depends on your case. Implant treatment is usually planned in more than one visit, with a healing period at home in between, and grafting can add to that. Your written plan states the days and visits you would need, before you book flights.

How long do All-on-6 implants last?

Implants can last many years when they are cleaned well and checked regularly. Smoking, gum health and teeth grinding all affect how long they last. The bridge on top may need maintenance or repair over time, whatever the number of implants.

Is İkon Dental authorised to treat patients from abroad?

Yes. İkon holds the International Health Tourism Authorisation Certificate of the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Health, for its Başakşehir and Hadımköy clinics. You can see the certificate on our international patients section.

What do I need to send for a first assessment?

A recent panoramic X-ray is ideal, because it shows the bone along the whole jaw. If you do not have one, clear photos of your teeth and a short note about your dental history and general health are enough to start.

This page is general information and does not replace an examination by a dentist.
