SINUS LIFTING

Sinus lifting, which can also be called lifting the lower border of the sinus, is performed to restore the bone height due to the melting of the upper jaw bone. The lower border of the sinus is lifted up with this operation by adding bone powders. After this procedure, the implant is placed.

There are 2 different methods of sinus lifting, open and closed. Open sinus lifting is performed in individuals with less than 5 mm bone. For this reason, this technique is preferred in patients with more bone deficiency. The procedure begins with anesthetizing the relevant area with local anesthesia. A small space is opened from the gingival area and bone powder is added to the relevant area as needed. In cases where too much bone powder is added, the implant is placed with a second operation after the healing period (approximately 3 months). However, in other appropriate cases, the implant can be placed immediately after the bone powder is placed.

Closed sinus lifting operation is performed in individuals who have 5-7 mm of bone between the sinus floor and the floor of the mouth. In this operation, the structure under the sinus is pushed upwards together with the bone with special tools. Implants can be placed immediately after the operation.
