Full-arch dental implants replace all the teeth of one jaw, or of both, with a fixed bridge held by implants. There is more than one way to do it. All-on-4 uses four implants per jaw, All-on-6 uses six, and zygomatic implants are an option when the upper jaw has lost a great deal of bone.

You do not have to know which one you need. That is decided from the 3D tomography of your jaws, and the answer can be different for your upper and your lower jaw. Implant treatment is usually planned in more than one visit, with a healing period at home in between. Your written plan states the days and visits you would need in Istanbul.

Send a few photos of your teeth, or a panoramic X-ray if you have one, on WhatsApp or through the form. A dentist reviews them, and our international team replies in your language.

2 In Istanbul · Arrival and examination

We meet you, examine you and confirm the plan

Airport and hotel. We coordinate your airport transfer and your stay with partner hotels near the clinics, including the Sheraton Grand Istanbul Esenyurt and Days Inn by Wyndham Istanbul Esenyurt.
Examination at the clinic. Day one starts with your examination, a 3D tomography (CBCT) and a digital scan of your mouth.
The plan, in person. Your dentist goes through the images with you and confirms the plan, or explains any change and why. Treatment then follows the written plan you approve.
In your language. Our international department works in English, Arabic, French and Turkish.

3 In Istanbul · Choosing the concept

What your scan decides

How much bone there is. The tomography shows the height and width of the bone along each jaw. Bone shrinks after teeth are lost, and not evenly.
Upper jaw. The bone here is usually softer, and the sinuses sit above the back teeth. When there is too little bone under the sinus, tilted implants or zygomatic implants can be considered.
Lower jaw. The bone is usually denser. A nerve runs through the back of the lower jaw, so implants are planned to stay clear of it.
The recommendation. Your dentist explains whether All-on-4, All-on-6 or another option fits each jaw, and why. You decide with the images in front of you.

4 In Istanbul · Implant day

The implants are placed as planned

Local anaesthesia. The area is numbed, so you should feel pressure rather than pain. Your dentist explains the anaesthesia options for your case beforehand.
Teeth that cannot be saved are removed. The implants are then placed at the positions and angles planned from your scan.
One jaw or both. Whether both jaws are treated together or one after the other is part of your written plan. Ask your dentist what that means for eating and for your stay.
Temporary teeth. In many full-arch cases a fixed temporary bridge can be attached to the implants soon after surgery. Whether that is right for you depends on how firmly the implants sit in the bone. Your dentist tells you beforehand what to expect, and what the alternative is.

5 At home · Healing

Healing at home

Over the following months the implants bond with the bone. Dentists call this osseointegration. You start with soft food and move on to firmer food as your dentist advises.

Your coordinator stays in touch, and your dentist is one message away if you have a question or want to send a photo.

6 In Istanbul · Your final teeth

Your final bridges

Check and digital scan. Your dentist checks each implant and takes a new digital scan for the final teeth.
Try-in. You see the shape and shade in your mouth, and how the upper and lower teeth meet, before anything is finished.
Fitting. The final bridge is fixed onto the implants, and your bite is checked carefully.
Cleaning routine. You are shown how to clean under each bridge at home.

7 Aftercare · Back home

Looking after your new teeth

Daily cleaning and regular check-ups keep implants healthy. Routine check-ups can be done with a dentist near your home.

After you fly home, your coordinator stays in touch and your dentist is one message away for questions and follow-up.

Swelling keeps growing instead of going down, you have a fever, bleeding does not stop with gentle pressure, numbness does not wear off, or a temporary tooth feels loose or cracks.

What it does not do

New teeth on implants are not maintenance-free. Implants cannot decay, but the gum and bone around them can become inflamed, so cleaning and check-ups stay part of your routine for years.

Swelling and bruising

Common in the first days, and often more noticeable when both jaws are treated. Rest, cold compresses and the medication your dentist prescribes help it settle.

Infection

Uncommon. Keeping your mouth clean and following your instructions lowers the risk.

An implant that does not bond

Now and then an implant does not bond with the bone and may need to be removed and replaced. Smoking and uncontrolled diabetes raise this risk.

A temporary tooth breaks

Temporary bridges are weaker than the final ones. Soft food during healing protects them.

Nerves and sinus

Rare. An implant too close to the nerve in the lower jaw can leave the lip or chin numb, and one in the upper jaw can affect the sinus. Planning from your 3D tomography is how these are avoided.

Not reversible

Teeth that are removed for a full-arch bridge do not come back. Teeth with a realistic future are worth keeping.

All-on-4, All-on-6 or zygomatic implants: which do I need?

That depends on your bone, and it is decided from your 3D tomography. All-on-4 often avoids grafting when the back of the jaw is thin. All-on-6 spreads the load over more implants when there is enough bone. Zygomatic implants are considered when the upper jaw has lost too much bone for either.

Can both jaws be treated at the same time?

It often can be. Whether both jaws are treated together or one after the other depends on your health, your bone and how much surgery is sensible in one go. Your written plan states which applies to you.

Do full-arch dental implants hurt?

The implants are placed under local anaesthesia, so you should feel pressure rather than pain during the procedure. Soreness and swelling afterwards are normal in the first days, and your dentist prescribes medication for that.

Will I go home without teeth?

Your dentist plans this with you before surgery. In many full-arch cases a fixed temporary bridge is attached to the implants soon after they are placed. If your bone needs more time, your dentist explains the temporary option for your case. Ask us which applies to you before you decide.

How much do full-arch dental implants cost in Istanbul, Turkey?

How long do I need to stay in Istanbul?

Is a removable denture still an option?

Yes. A removable denture replaces a full arch without implants or surgery. It rests on the gum, so it can move, and it is taken out for cleaning. If you are unsure about implants, tell us, and your dentist explains both routes.

What do I need to send for a first assessment?

A recent panoramic X-ray is ideal. If you do not have one, clear photos of your teeth and a short note about your dental history and general health are enough to start.
