FIXED ORTHODONTIC TREATMENTS (WIRE THERAPY)
We use the most modern treatment methods and technological tools to detect and treat every problem in your mouth and teeth.
It is the most commonly used and proven treatment today, and it is the treatment that provides both aesthetic and functional (biting-eating) correction of all teeth. They consist of the brackets on the front surfaces of the teeth and the wire system passing through them, and they have different designs according to the material used.
Implants are one of the best treatment methods in today’s dentistry, as they completely replace the existing teeth. Because when it is placed inside the existing jawbone, it completely combines with the bone and becomes a very durable structure. It creates a complete tooth structure with teeth in porcelain or zirconium structure placed on this durable structure. It offers a better solution in terms of function and aesthetics compared to the existing tooth, which is yellowed and worn, and the root surface is inflamed.
WIRE TREATMENT WITH METAL BRACKETS
There is an aesthetically unpleasant appearance in wire treatment with metal brackets. However, the unbreakable structure of metal brackets and the ease of friction with metal wires are advantageous in terms of treatment. These advantages also ensure that the treatment takes a shorter time. At the same time, orthodontic treatment with these brackets is the most economical option.
WIRE TREATMENT WITH TRANSPARENT (PORCELAIN) BRACKETS
Wire treatment with transparent brackets provides a more aesthetic appearance by minimizing the unpleasant appearance on the front. Compared to metal brackets, they have a longer treatment time since they have more friction with the wires. Their prices are more expensive than metal brackets.
THINGS TO DO BEFORE TREATMENT
In fixed orthodontic treatment, there are brackets that are permanently attached to the teeth. Before this permanent bonding, all caries and tartar must be cleaned. Otherwise, orthodontic treatment may be disrupted or the spread of inflamed tissues during treatment may accelerate.
HOW ARE WIRES APPLIED?
First of all, bonding the wires, which is the first stage of orthodontic treatment, is a painless and needle-free procedure. Only the front surfaces of the patient’s teeth are dried and the brackets are attached with special adhesives. Wires are placed on the brackets.
HOW SHOULD I BRUSH MY TEETH?
Regular and correct brushing is very important during orthodontic treatment. Because nutrients and microorganisms can more easily adhere to the recessed areas of the brackets and wires, causing permanent damage to the teeth. These permanent damages (teeth discoloration, gingival problems and caries formation) can harm the entire purpose of orthodontic treatment for aesthetic purposes, especially when it comes to anterior teeth.
In addition, dental calculus formed between wires and brackets due to lack of brushing can make tooth movement difficult and prolong the treatment period.
As described below, brushing with braces and braces is more challenging than normal tooth brushing. However, you should brush your teeth regularly throughout your treatment so that your teeth are not permanently damaged and your orthodontic treatment is not prolonged.
Toothbrushes:
Regular toothbrush:
The toothbrush used should be soft enough to bend and bend under the brackets, but at the same time hard enough to remove bacterial plaque from the surfaces of the teeth. A soft or multi-bristled medium hard brush is ideal for this. At the same time, it is recommended that the brush head is small and that there are no plastic protrusions on the sides that cause the accumulation of bacterial plaque. The brush must be changed at least once every 6 months.
Interface brush:
A 0.6mm or 0.7mm interface brush is sufficient for cleaning between both brackets and between the wire and the bracket. The interface brush should be changed once a month.
Orthodontic tooth brushing technique:
First of all, it is started from the most posterior anterior surface of the right or left teeth. By making 6 rounds in each tooth, the front surfaces of the teeth are cleaned by coming from the rearmost tooth to the most anterior tooth. The right and left sides are combined in the front.
In order to clean the gingival parts of the teeth, the brush is inserted between the gingiva and the bracket, and both the right and left front surfaces are cleaned by coming forward from the rearmost tooth.
The inner parts of the teeth are cleaned with the same technique, that is, with 6 rounds of rounding motion in each tooth.
Finally, the upper parts of the teeth are cleaned by performing 6 rounds of circular motion.
The interface brush, on the other hand, is touched to the sides, top and bottom parts of the brackets and the surrounding of the brackets is cleaned.
WHAT SHOULD I EAT DURING ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT?
If you do not pay attention to nutrition during orthodontic treatment, the brackets will throw away the adhesives and the tooth will return to its former state. This prolongs the treatment period and the resulting wires sink into the patient’s cheeks. Therefore, it should be fed as follows:
Instead of hard fruits such as apples, pears, quinces and plums, prefer soft fruits such as strawberries, watermelons and grapes. If hard fruits are to be eaten, they should be cut with a knife and made into a bite and consumed without being bitten with the front teeth.
Hard vegetables such as carrots should not be consumed or consumed after cooking.
Instead of whole foods such as bread crumbs, hamburgers, wraps, they should be consumed in the form of service. Or it should be consumed after being cut into small pieces with a knife.
Instead of consuming hard or hard parts of foods such as bread and bagels, it is necessary to consume soft ones or soft parts.
Choose soft and boneless meats instead of bony or hard-to-chew meats.
Do not consume sticky foods such as jelly beans, paste, chewing gum.
Seed fruits and soft nuts should be consumed after removing the core.
Prefer fruit juice, soda and ayran instead of acidic drinks such as cola and soda.
Soft nuts such as apricots, raisins and figs should be preferred. Other hard and shelled nuts should not be consumed.
Foods containing hard pieces and crumbs such as popcorn and chips should not be consumed.
Apart from this, any food that can break the uncountable brackets should not be consumed. In addition, dental calculus formed between the braces and braces due to lack of brushing can make tooth movement difficult and prolong the treatment period.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IN EMERGENCY SITUATIONS (STUDDING, BREAKING, HEATING ETC.)?
At the beginning of fixed orthodontic treatment, that is, when the wires are first inserted, the ends of the brackets are uncomfortable, but this is a temporary situation, it will pass within 1 week. But still, protective wax given by the doctor or hard gums bought from the market cover the bracket protrusions and reduce the feeling of stinging.
If the bracket comes loose from the tooth during the treatment, an appointment with the orthodontist should be made immediately so that the duration of the treatment is not prolonged.
Especially if the rear ends of the wires are sinking, it can be covered with protective wax or hard gum. Then, an appointment should be made from the orthodontist immediately and the relevant area should be corrected.
If the backmost bracket comes off and the wire is empty and pierces the cheek, the wire can be cut with a sterile nail clipper from the last bracket. However, this should only be done when the orthodontist cannot be reached. Incorrect cutting procedures can affect the entire treatment.
The tip of the ligature wire covering the wire can be lifted while eating, in this case, the wire can be corrected by pressing with a soft-tipped object (pencil eraser, ear cotton).
HOW ARE TIRES USED?
Tires should be used as directed by the physician without replacement.
As the tires lose their elasticity over time, a new one should be fitted after 24 hours.
It should be removed while eating, and the same tire should be continued to be worn after eating.
Since the structure of the rubbers weakens in very hot beverages such as tea and coffee, the rubbers should be removed in very hot drinks. Beverage can be drunk while other drinks have rubbers.
Tires should also be worn while sleeping at night.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER IT'S FINISHED? ARE MY TEETH DROPPED AGAIN?
In cases where the roots are idealized and the reinforcement treatment (retainer, clear plaque or hawley) is applied, the probability of deterioration of the teeth is very low. However, in patients who do not use the transparent plate given after the treatment properly, the teeth may deteriorate, albeit a little. Or, if patients whose retainer is broken or whose retainer is broken, do not correct these wires, the teeth may deteriorate. These deteriorations are still very few if the right treatment is given. Therefore, the experience and knowledge of the orthodontist is very important. How much of the retaining appliances (clear plate, retainer-back wire) will be used after the treatment varies from case to case.
